Breathy Experiment
I posted a week or two ago asking about creating breathy wind instrument sounds. Tonight I've been experimenting and have uploaded a very brief file example of the result.
The patch was created with a Dark Star synth. I used two parts. The first part used "blue noise" running through a bandpass filter with the resonance turned all the way up. I tried to pitch the noise correctly across the keyboard by adjusting the filter and the keyboard tracking.
The second part is a filtered square waveform. I tried to set the amplitude envelopes of both parts to mimic the characteristics of a wind instrument. Also, I tried to mix the two parts together so that they sound like the belong together, i.e. aren't seperate parts.
The breathy noise part is deliberately louder than what it would be with a real instrument. I was going for a kind of exagerated pan flute sound.
